Following in the footsteps of folks like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Simpson, Rihanna has decided that now is the time for her to make the leap from singer/performer to leading actress. Variety reports the gal has nabbed her first acting role in Universal's Battleship, based, of course, on the popular board game.

She doesn't need to start her movie career in a sing song movie but I do not think 1st role should be leading lady role. Maybe she will surprise me. The movie does sound a little ridiculous and maybe they wanted her as leading female role to bring in more crowds to watch movie.

HAHA battleships and aliens, perfect role for Rhianna, no one is gonna take this movie seriously and no one is gonna take her seriously in an acting role. It's like this movie was made for here. Wouldn't it be great if an alien threw her off the one of the ships? Then it would be perfect.

evry1 always expects a singers first role to be a singing role, well bravo to this vocalist for thinking outside the box and choosing a role thats unlike what she does every day. Me, Id rather see a vocalist choose something(a role) that shows their acting ability or lack of so i can judge them solely on the performance they gave. So bravo, once again to Rihanna for choosing a role that hopefully launches a successful acting career to add to her successes already!!

I wish the very best to the young Soul Lady-Vocalist RIHANNA with this exciting Role part she's participating in the BATTLESHIP Movie with Actors Taylor KITSCH-he was "electrifying" in X-MEN "Wolverine" and The Covenant & Alexander SKARSGARD-I've heard of him/I do believe his from the hit HBO Series "True Blood"...'how chilly.
