Earlier today I wrote about James Cameron mentoring Spider-Man director Marc Webb on shooting films in 3D, since the former has had a little success in that department. Aside from Spider-Man being shot in 3D, though, a whole host of films are scurrying to apply the 3D model in the wake of Avatar absolutely exploding at the box office.
Poll: Do You Prefer to Watch Movies in 3D or 2D?(survey)
Avatar, James Cameron, Clash of the Titans, Marc Webb, 3-D
I don't like 3D, I already wear glasses so it's worse than normal. Met a young man at my last movie that hates it. I saw Avatar in both versions and preferred the 2D, it was more colorful too.
I will never watch another 3d movie
3D makes me sick
I have gotten sick every time I go to a 3D movie and I have determined that I can never see one again. The sad news is that the studios are pushing ahead in making 3D movies and they know people get sick watching them. There are two movies I want to see but they are only going to be in a 3D format. This well keeps me from watching them. We need to start boycott these movies forcing them to offer 2D version so people can have a choice for those who are physically unable to watch a 3D movie. They are discriminating against those who become handicapped because 3D makes them physically ill.
God i am so sick how the'yre trying to make EVERY damn movie 3D! It's ruining what used to be special. The glasses are annoying, uncomfortable, and make everything on the screen too dark. To be honest i just have not even been impressed with anything that has been in 3D, and that included Avatar (although i LOVED the movie itself). Nothing ever "jumps off the screen" to me in the slightest, and i just don't see the point. Stop wasting my money people! The problem is most of the time they'll tell you, "Oh it's available in 2 and 3D so if you don't want to spend to see it 3D just don't". But it's bull, because the 2D showings are usually in limited release because they're trying to shove the other version down your throat! I'm just over it!
I would stick to 2D movies. I don't care much for 3D movies. I am blown away with the special effects for the movies these days. But 3D takes away the look of the film. I would rather enjoy the real effects of the film without the glasses.
3D films make for a very interesting theater going experience. But if a film is not good with out the 3D then it will not be any better with 3D. Good films come from good story, good action, good acting, etc. 3D is just a little bit of a bonus if it works well with the film.
I think that NO movie that is converted in 3D will look like Avatar. Avatar looked AMAZING in 3D, but just like they mentioned it took 4 years to make. I think that franchises that have already started in 2D like Twlight, Transformers, and Hary Potter should stay in 2D. However, movies that haven't yet started to shoot or are being planned like Spider-Man should definitely try the 3D expierence. That being said, I prefer movies in 2D.
Have tried several times. Can't stand 3D. Makes me dizzy, sick to my stomach. I will never go to one again.
A huge gimmick. It's just a way to try to create a market. However, saying that, I feel that if used the right way, it can be used as a purposeful device; the way they used it for the film 'A Christmas Carol' - 3D worked for that film. Either way, you still got similar effect.
edge of eli
I don't like movies in 3D and I would not want to watch any Harry Potter's in 3D, it would ruin the amazing way they already make the movies and I like picturing it like the books.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
