Christoph Waltz may be close to maniacally laughing his way through The Muppets 2. THR reported the news in conjunction with the announcement that James Bobin would be returning to helm the sequel.

Waltz would play an Interpol inspector in the sequel to last year's hit, which re-launched the long running Jim Henson-created franchise. The film is expected to be set in Europe.

Waltz is best known for his Academy Award-wining performance in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds and can be seen next in Tarantino's Django Unchained.

Much like the last year's Muppets movie, this sequel is expected to have a slew of cameos. The Interpol inspector role is one of a handful of human roles, which also include a Russian femme fatale and a male lead whose intentions are always in question.
