Morning Must-Read: Daniel Day-Lewis as 'Lincoln,' Casting Calls for 'Catching Fire,' and 'Kung Fu Panda' Sequel News

Presidential Pictures: Daniel Day-Lewis has mastered a number of difficult personalities over the course of his career, from Bill "The Butcher" Cutting in Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York to Daniel Plainview in Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood

For his latest complicated portrayal, the two-time Oscar winner will don the trademark hat and deliberate beard to play Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln, an anticipated presidential biography from director Steven Spielberg. With the film due in theaters on Nov. 9, EW.com has a first official look at Day-Lewis in character. Could a trailer be close behind?

Sequel News: During an appearance on CBS This Morning, Woody Harrelson confirmed that the Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, will be filming in Atlanta and Hawaii beginning in September. As such, the production has put the call out for extras. You might get the chance to act opposite Meta Golding, who was just cast as Enobaria (according to this Facebook post).

A new book due in stores soon will be titled Bond On Set, and will capture the behind-the-scenes action on Sam Mendes’ latest James Bond adventure, Skyfall. In anticipation of the book’s release, MI6-HQ.com teased a few images, which we’re happy to share below:

There’s a bit of "good news/bad news" for fans of the Kung Fu Panda series.

In a Variety story this morning, DreamWorks Animation confirms that they are moving ahead with Part 3 in the franchise, and will be co-producing it with an animation company that will be jointly financed with partners in China. It will be the first step in a major animation partnership between Hollywood and Shanghai. The bad news? We might not see Kung Fu Panda 3 in theaters until 2016.

Tom Clancy Spinoff? All indications so far suggest that Paramount Pictures is very happy with the job Christopher McQuarrie did directing Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher, an adaptation of Lee Childs' best-selling novel One Shot. In fact, the studio's so pleased that, according to Deadline, they've offered the writer a chance to adapt Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan spinoff Without Remorse into a feature film, with an eye on McQuarrie directing the piece, as well. Deadline speculates that Paramount might be trying to cross-polinate between a Remorse adaptation and the Jack Ryan reboot the studio's attempting with Chris Pine. We'll see how this plays out.

R.I.P. Finally, the film community mourns the passing of three-time Oscar-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch, who died at the age of 68. His soundtracks included The Sting and The Way We Were. His most recent contribution was the score for Steven Soderbergh’s The Informant!, with Matt Damon. His talents will be missed.

How surreal Actor Daniel Day-Lewis looks amazing as the Historic President Abraham Lincoln. Brilliant & so serious. Awesome. Looking forward to Spielberg's new LINCOLN movie on the Iconic President's life. Great photo shots on the BOND's: Skyfall movie the last one of him taking a picture of the camera-person is pretty cool. Kung Fu Panda, thrilled there will be a 3rd creation in the making.

Glad Dreamworks is doing KP 3. Two questions remain folks, Will it live up to the masterpiece quality of the first two and how long will Pos journey to reach awesomeness last. Meanwhile, 2016 will be the moment we might say goodbye to Hiccup and Toothless with HTYD 3.
