'Man of Steel' To Be Edgy Like 'The Dark Knight Rises'

Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, Man of Steel, is still more than a year away from hitting theaters, but that hasn't stopped fans from wondering how it will turn out, given his spotty history with 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch.

According to Dylan Sprayberry, who landed the coveted role of young Clark Kent, the tone of the reboot is going to take after Christopher Nolan's Batman.

"When Zack and I were talking about it the first time, he was saying how Superman, they want to give it a more edgy feel like The Dark Knight but also make it more realistic and emotional so it's not just the all-American superhero that saves everyone. He has dilemmas and love and struggles throughout the whole movie, especially when he's a kid."

Fans of the late-CW series Smallville can attest to the angst and hardships young Clark went through. While Sprayberry's role in the film is just a small chunk of a movie which stars Henry Cavill as Superman, what do you think of Snyder taking after Nolan's darker, edgier approach?

Man of Steel arrives in theaters June 14, 2013.

"Edgy and Dark"? Is that why the Man of Steel runs around in a blue getup with no underwear covering his junk and has a nike swoosh like S on his chest! Wow Superman looks like a super galactic "perv" !!! Oh well what next? How about adding a "Super bluetooth" and a wifi hotspot in his boot to complete the edgy transformation.

Nolan is a great director. Snyder isn't. So basically any attempt by Snyder to ape Nolan will come out horribly. Along with that, why the hell would you try and make Superman "dark and gritty"? Superman is the ultimate boyscout, the total anti-thesis of dark and gritty. To try and make him so, shows that one has no grasp of his character. Now, it may sound like I'm some rabid Superman fan, but truthfully, I abhor the character. The goody two-shoes/shining beacon of morality base makes him a boring character when most people handle him. Making him dark and gritty won't help.

Action,Fighting (please let him HIT somebody this time)& a villain who can actually go toe-to-toe with Superman; yes, but not every comic book movie needs to be "The Dark Knight"; When I first saw the muted colors of Cavill's Superman costume, I was worried that Mr. Snyder might take a darker path in Man of Steel. This seems like a thematic mistake: Superman wants to be a symbol of Good, so he wants to stand out, while Batman's whole vibe is one of darkness & stealth. Snyder can certainly be masterful with color, tho. Certain parts of Watchmen hinted at this, but he truly hit a wonderful, gorgeous, colorful stride with the 3-D animated "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" . Don't LOSE Superman while trying to make him different

hahahaha, this won't work! The kid looks like he should be in the Dragonball reboot as Goku! Besides, before any superman movie can actually be made the right way and for it to get to the Batman level, they first have to get away from the constent retelling of Superman's origin. Everyone knows about it and no one really cares, there are many great comic book stories that they can use in order to make a kick *** Superman movie (I AM NOT A Surperman FAN), but for some weird reason they refuse to see it or use them. I can't be the only one that sees this, It's the only reason why Lois and Clark/ Smallville actually worked, they started and kept moving forward.

Man! Can not wait for this! I bet it will be awesome. I do enjoy most of Snyder's things so mix that with Superman and we got a deal. I just remember those awesome first pics of Sups a while back and it already looked beyond sweet.

Nolan's "dark and edgy" is completely unique. Snyder can try to touch Nolan's "dark and edgy" but it won't even come close. I think "Man of Steel" will be a great movie but no one can do what Christopher Nolan can do.
