If you're considering watching The Hunger Games in IMAX to experience the Capitol's arena in maximum proportions, you'll only have one week to do it. With Wrath of the Titans releasing in IMAX only a week after, Hunger Games in true IMAX theaters is currently only programmed as a seven-day showing from March 23-29.

This movie was a disappointment! I loved all 3 books, but the movie was a disaster! It was so slow, with very little action. The trailer made it look cool, but if I had the chance to had watch it another time, i would wait till it came out on DVD. The Hunger Games made a LOT of money when it first came out because all the major book fans were dying to see what the action looked like on a screen. But as soon as they saw the movie they regretted it because it left out ALOT!!! If you haven't read the book before you see the movie you will be totally lost, and if you have read the book you will be disappointed!

DO NOT WATCH THIS AT THE AMC GEORGETOWN IMAX!!!. We went to see the midnight showing on March 22 (12:01AM March 23). Some ignoramus in the projection room had their window open into the theater and they were playing another movie (or maybe a basketball game?) which could be heard by everyone in the IMAX theater. At the most inappropriate times, you would suddenly hear cheering or clapping coming from the projection room. A few of us sat on the back of our chairs or stood up to try to get the projectionist's attention, but they were totally oblivious. FIRE THAT IDIOT and please don't expose anyone else to such awful treatment.

I will probably see it the first week, even though it won't be playing in true IMAX in Massachusetts either. The fake IMAX at the AMC Boston Common is okay, but I like the one at the Showcase Cinemas in Randolph better.
going teh first day it comes out soo excited :)

No unfortunately. The Edwards IMAX theater here will be playing Titanic 3D. It's the only true 70mm HUGE IMAX theater. Hunger Games IMAX is playing in a bunch of FAKE IMAX theaters around here.. most of them AMC theaters. They're not true IMAX. They're a rip off. So I'll be watching it still at the Edwards but non IMAX, but on one of their much bigger than normal theater screen anyways.

no one gives a crap about your true imax theater.
Obviously you don't, but you probably think watching a regular DVD on an HDTV means you're watching it in HD. Have fun spending extra money watching it on a normal sized fake IMAX screen.

True that.

This is probably a stupid question, but what is a "fake" IMAX, and what's the difference between that and a real IMAX?
pcwholesale1 said...
What is referred to as "Fake" IMAX is Digital IMAX, in which the IMAX trademark is licensed to theaters showing it on a standard size 35mm screen with digital projection and sound. However, the screen size is less than a third the size of the original IMAX screen, which makes people who have paid a premium for "IMAX" feel ripped off. Especially Aziz Ansari - [BLOCKED WEBSITE]

Heck yes!
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
"Squirrel!"
