It's no secret that prior to his death, Heath Ledger was working on a film called The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus for director Terry Gilliam. When Ledger passed away, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law stepped in to finish Ledger's scenes and the script was re-tooled to incorporate such a change. Unfortunately, however, the film has been deemed too "out there" for most Hollywood studios and no one wants to take a chance on it ... yet.
So while we wait to see if Ledger's final performance ever makes it to the big (or small) screen, good news is the late Oscar winner also secretly directed a music video for Modest Mouse that will soon see the light of day. SPIN.com tells us the band plans to release the music video -- which Ledger directed shortly before his death in January 2008 – "soon," though they gave no specific date. In case we have any Modest Mouse fans out there, the video in question is for the song "King Rat," a bonus track off the band's 2007 album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. And in addition to Ledger's direction, Terry Gilliam also animated the entire video. Um, awesome?
Check out a live performance of the song in question below, and I'll be back to show you the video once it's arrived online.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
