Here we go again. It's time for us to put on our debating caps and sound off on who we think should play the female lead in another Marvel sequel. This time around, we're talking about Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Deadline reports that five actresses are testing for a role in the sequel. The site also confirms that Black Widow will appear in the film.
The actresses currently shortlisted for a "love interest role" are (in order of pics below) Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Alison Brie (Community), Imogen Poots (Fright Nights, Jane Eyre) and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downtown Abbey).
Even though the specific character hasn't been revealed, it's pretty safe to say that these actresses are auditioning for the Sharon Carter role. There's no mention of Anna Kendrick or Felicity Jones, who were rumored a couple months ago as a potential candidates for the role, so we can presume that they have moved on to work on other projects.
Imogen Poots is the only holdover from the initial shortlist, which leads us to believe that she has the inside track on the role. Brie and Palmer have pretty extensive resumes and Palmer certainly fits the look of Carter. Clarke and Findlay seem like dark horses, given their limited cult fame brought about by their television shows.
Captain America gears up to begin production in a couple of months and arrives in theaters April 4, 2014.

For once, I actually like all the possible actresses for a role (that rarely happens!). I'm not that versed in CA, but I think all these ladies have their own strength and could do a good job. ^_^

sorry but we are going by the original and that is the best way to keep so other races would ruin it. why do people always have to throw that in there. If you want a comic book with you in it, make it yourself. Well, I am in love with Captain America so he will have to be in love with a true woman, not one who shows herself but covers herself up. He is old fashion and so should she be... not alot makeup, long flow dresses/skirts, natural hair, nice mouth - no dirty talk. Guys, please dont mess it up...

Ms. Palmer has the look of the character and certainly proved her action chops and screen-stealing desireability in 'Sorcerer's Apprentice." Certainly gets my vote!

Why does Captain America's love interest have to be a white woman?! The first Captain America movie wasn't really very "American," maybe Hollywood can reflect the real America in C2. Oh wait, I forget that I am talking about one of the most racist organizations on the planet. Sigh...

Judging from the Cap's past love interest in Captain America: The First Avenger, I'd vote for Emilia Clarke or Alison Brie as the sequel's love interest. They seem more like Rogers' type!

After the Avengers How can we have separate movies now? How can we have 1 hero without the other 3? Where in the time line will this be?
Because all of these movies were first Comic Books, as was The Avengers, eventually. Each character has extensive story lines of their own, and the idea is to follow said stories from these books that (some) began over 50 years ago. That being said, since the last Captain America ended bringing him into the 21st Century, I'm sure it will start from there - not excluding what he did in Avengers, of course. It should all flow at this point - I hope!

Since Black Widow is in the Avengers movie I think she should be Captions new love even though I think Hawkeye and her had a thing for each other I would still like to see her in the Captain America Winter Soldier. The Palmer girl is alright but this a movie that I think deserves a more brave type and courageous type of person.

If you skip it, you'll miss out on facts for Avengers 2. I liked Captain America: The First Avenger so this one should be good as well. Im mostly looking forward to Iron Man 3 and The Avengers 2, but ill see all the Marvel Phrase 2 movies!
