Only one week before the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is set to debut in theaters in front of Robert Pattinson's Remember Me comes this bit of controversy from within the post-production offices. Apparently Summit Entertainment has replaced the original Eclipse editor, Art Jones, with Nancy Robinson, who edited the first Twilight film. So why the switch?
Eclipse, Robert Pattinson, Remember Me
As I don't know of David Slade's work, Eclipse was one of my FAVORITE in the saga, and just HOPEEEE it doesn't get destroyed turned into a film. I loved the films so far, but loved the books more, and I know the movies aren't going to have every single detail of the books, they could have came a teeeeeny bit closer. Each book has a bit more sensuality in them, and so they need not try and make things all bubbly. Just my opinion. I still support no matter what.
I also agree i wish that th movies followed the books a lil more. The books are great just the way they are. although i can't wiat to see what they do with the last one! Hope that they stay true to the book if not the movie may just be a let down!
Thought New Moon was sooooo much better & much closer to staying true to the book than Twilight ever could be...Twilight sucked, was kinda hoping they would remake it?!!?!!?
I would like the movies to represent the authors view not the producers view. Am wary about the ability to have a seemless transition from movie to movie. Don't let the fans down!!!
well they better keep it to the book and i wanna here there stories and it would have been cool it was a little dark especially rosalie story and jasper but i love new moon director he was better then the first sorry but he keep it to the book he didnt cut too much.
Completely agree! too many important scenes were cut from Twilight - it sucked (compaired to the book & to New Moon)
yea ur so right
To me it doesn't matter what editor you have as far as how DIFFERENT the books are. To me regardless of who edits it..it doesn't change what the director would film for them to edit you know? I def agree that the books are totally diff and if I hadn't read them I would have been lost too. I wish they would follow the books more but they won't its kind of disappointing. I like the editor change. The first one wasn't so much different from the books as the second one; although i did enjoy New Moon. I think if your doing a series..especially one thats a hit like this as well as based on a book series you NEED to keep the same team of directors actors and editors bc its easier to build the same goal for the movies.
As a fan of the Twilight series books and movies for a while now, I just hope they keep Chapter 20 from the book in the film without changing it. It's the part where Edward proposes to Bella. Anything else....change anything.
I was very disappointed in Twilight. The movie did not follow the book. The director and/or editor put in scenes that were not needed but left very important ones out that explained the story. I think the director and the editor did a very good job with New Moon in keeping with the book. I really enjoyed New Moon. I do hope the editor change does not bring us fans another Twilight mess. I think Breaking Dawn has way too much story for a regular movie time. To do the movie right (and stick to the book), it will need to be two movies or a very long one.. If done right, I am more than willing to sit through a longer movie.
My wife will go with out me if it is as boring as the last film. THE KISS AT THE END...HE HOLDS HER ARM!!!!!! WHAT A CRAP MOVE!!!! You should understand that some guys have to see the movie with their girls. Give them a bone. He could of held something else. It was right there. Just saying it was very fustrating. It was not balanced.
They should have allowed the darker edit of the film. I think more fans would actually like to see a more grown up version of the movies. Many believe the first two were too cookie cutter anyways. And the books get darker a they go along just like the harry potter books. So its only right that the movies should get darker as well. Also if the movies were a bit darker I think we could get more guys into the theaters with the girls to see the rest of the movies...
I know we would see a good movie and or movies then for breaking dawn.
I think they need to pick one of the following to diract Breaking Dawn.....Lord knows they can afford them now: RON HOWARD, CLINT EEASTWOOD, MARTIN BREST, BARRY LEVINSON, GARRY MARSHALL, ROBERT REDFORD, JOEL SCHUMACHER, GEORGE LUCAS , M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN , SOFIA COPPOLA
I think this is a brilliant move. There were too many changes with the second movie.. obviously, there was a different director and some of the actors had changed, but the 'feel' of the movie did not have the same impact as the first one (script or no script). I've read all the books more than three times and of course the movies will never be as good as the books but I truly was let down with New Moon. If even ONE of the aspects go back to the original "Twilight" flim it will be an improvement.
I loved these books. I really wanted to love the movies. I liked the actors, I think they do the parts well, but I don't like how far they are straying from the books. I saw Twilight many times in the theate, trying to love it as much as the book. I grew to love th music, & enjoy listing to the movie for background noise when working on my art, but New Moon let me feeling very flat. Too far from the book. My DH fell asleep. He had a hard time understanding what was going on because he han't re Thebooks. I hope whoever edits Eclipse, theve've read the book more than once, & recently, so that they can keep it closer to th book. The original stories are so much better than the movie versions.
I was truly disappointed with the movie version of Twilight. The director was HORRIBLE. I read an interview with her that said that she refused to read the series until AFTER the movie was done because she didn't want it to interfere with her "vision" of the movie. I don't get it, how can you have a "vision" of the story if you haven't read it all? I think that New Moon was much better and am praying that Eclipse is as good. I am also really hoping that the original director will not be brought back because I think that will ruin what was the best book of the series.
I totally agree with you JanoraSongbird! So far the New Moon movie has been the best, but I loved both movies. I am so looking forward to the rest of them.
To be completely honest it doesn't matter what they do. You are always going to have people who like it and those who hate it. You can't make everyone happy. If you are in love with the other two movies then you most likely will love the next movie. But if you love the books more than the movie then you are probably going to be extremely disappointed. Books that are made into movies always have a hard time making it because you have those that want the book word for word but you can't gain an audience by doing that or at least not a very big one. And we all know without a decent size audience you can't make it in Hollywood. I'm sure no matter what they decide to do it will be loved and hated.

"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"

"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
