Perhaps Voldemort is to blame, but Warner Bros. Pictures has made the decision to release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters, as they will not have a completed 3D version of the film within their release date window.
In a statement released by Warner Bros., they state that, "despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate 'Harry Potter' experience." Producer David Heyman said, "For 10 years, we have worked alongside Alan Horn and the studio, whose priority has always been to preserve the integrity of Jo Rowling’s books as we have adapted them to the screen, and this decision reflects that commitment." Director David Yates continued, "This decision, which we completely support, underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first." Don't fret too much, 3D fans. The studio still plans to have the second installment, due out July 15, 2011, available in both conventional 2D and 3D versions as well as in IMAX.
What do you think of this decision to keep it in 2D? Does it any way affect your plans to see the film?

I, for one, agree with the first 3 people that commented about how they were sad that it wasn't released in 3D because I am a 3D Fanatic, but at least Part 2 will be in 3D, and I hope they plan to re-release Part 1 in 3D!

Was excited for 3D version of the movie, so I'm sad it wont be in 3D. But nothing could stop me from seeing the movie, even the worse one (#5) at least 3 times. This way I don't have to decide which version to see.

I'm a 3d fanatic and i wear glasses i generally have no problems with the glasses on top for the movie. However I i just wanna see the darn movie. 2d or 3d doesn't matter to me for HP. I love the books and movies so im in either way.

I don't get this 3D sucks campain. 3D rules, all movies should be in 3D. I go to 1-2 movies a week and 3D is the best experience. I have seen movies in both formats and 2D is a let down. I am very dissapointed it will not be in 3D. People seem to hate change and 3D is the latest thing to bash on, build them up tear them down. I bet if color was new today many would shout out how great black and white is and color isn't needed...

For the record I love the Harry Potter Books but the movies are worse than the **** stuck on the bottom of my shoes. That being said if they release the first part of a two-part story in 2D they would be stupid to release the second part in 3D. Or rather the studio would be smart and the people watching it would be absolute idiots.........but then again I will probably see the movie if only to disappoint myself....I guess I'm an idiot too.

Thank god. What did we do fall back in the 80's or something i can't stand 3-D. I do love the 80's though...

I agree... I wear contacts so I don't have the issue with glasses, but the strain always gives me a huge headache by the end of the movie. I applaud the decision not to put out the ED version. That being said, I don't mind 3D for some animated films like the "Christmas Carol" with Jim Carrey, that was kind of cool.

I agree with everything that's been said about the perils and annoyances of 3D. That being said, I probably would be one of the suckers to go see Deathly Hallows again if they do re-release it in 3D :) I'm very happy the newest one is not being pushed back for a later release date, that would have been horribly disappointing.

as long as it comes out I don't care!

Agree, I don't mind 3D occasionally but in many films it's just a distraction as directors try and force it into the story line. 3D is often much darker too and this can be a problem for movies like Harry that are already dark to begin with.

first of all 3d sucks! i'm glad that warner brothers is not just releasing a non-quality movie in order to make a quick buck because everyone will have to see it in 3D. For an aspiring filmmaker, such as myself, I hope that 3d does not continue its rise and that it does not become the norm for filmmakers. I enjoy going to the movies to watch a story being told and not to live the story through gimmicks like 3d.

I'm glad that Warner is showing a little integrity, and not releasing a very poor 3D conversion, like "Clash of the Titans" or "The Last Airbender."

I'll still be there at the midnight release all decked out in costume most 3D movies blow and cost way too much and they're def not worth it...:)

I won't be going out of my way to go to the IMAX now. Honestly, I think they'll release it again in 3D right before Part 2 comes out. It's an easy way to make as much money out of the franchise as possible.

I will still see this move, do not care about the 3D

Sorry to hear that WARNER Brothers didn't have enough time to do the new HP7 in 3D version as stated above couldn't meet the deadline...'but definately met the 2D date deadline for viewing in which I prefer more anyway. I always have problems with those 3D glasses/over my own glasses - and I end up seeing the movie again in 2D anyway for I feel more comfortable viewing the films in that format. So, please don't ever get raid of 2D Movies for it's better for your vision anyway...'3D I sometime see triple images wearing those uncomfortable 3D glasses. I don't want to totally put 3D down it does offer something spectacular & new visually but seriously they need to improve on those glasses for all rather we wear eye-glasses or not.

Yes! I'm very vocal about how much I hate 3D and I couldn't be happier about this. A studio actually chose quality over more money!

I for one am excited that it won't be in 3D. 3D is not friendly for those of use who already wear glasses and must then wear 3D glasses overtop as well. Also, 3D can either make a movie better or ruin it. And three quarters of the time 3D ruins it. It's really not all that amazing and everyone is going way overboard with it, I mean EVERY movie that comes out now is in 3D.

I totally agree with you! I wear contacts sometimes but it's so irritating to go to the movies and have to TRY to watch the movie with those stupid glasses over my own glasses.
Me three, with the double glasses conundrum. I WAS looking forward to Harry Potter in 3D but it certainly doesn't change my excitement about going to see the movie ASAP!!

Agreed. I think it should be for certain movies that are made to be like that. Harry Potter needs to be seen in IMAX 2D.

I absolutely agree!! I wear glasses as well and 3D just gives me a raging headache. 3D is already a tired gimmick. I am excited to see it in IMAX 2D!!
