David Goyer Teases 'Lump in My Throat' Ending for 'The Dark Knight Rises' as Two More Posters Are Revealed

Christopher Nolan is a bit self-conscious. Not that The Dark Knight Rises isn't going to be a worldwide commercial success when it arrives in theaters on July 20, but rather that he wasn't sure how to fit Catwoman into his final Batman movie.

In an interview with Empire via MTV and Screenrant, Nolan says, "Catwoman is a very iconic figure in the Batman pantheon. I was nervous about how she would fit into our world. But [co-writer and brother] Jonathan was very much convinced that there would be a great way to do it and eventually turned me around. Once I got my head around the idea of looking at the character through the prism of our films, saying 'Who could that person be in real life?' we figured it out. She's a bit of a con-woman, something of a grifter. A hard-edged kind of criminal."

Jonathan adds that, "what we're endeavoring to do here is tell a complete take on the Batman mythos. And a complete take of the Batman mythos without the character for me was sacrilegious. You've gotta have her, because she has a delicious greyness to her that helps define who Batman is. She keeps wavering on this line of, 'Is she a good guy or a bad guy?' Well, she's kind of neither. And that's why, to me, that relationship and that character only enhances the universe – and the Batman character."

While the brothers figured out how to work Catwoman into the final movie, writer David Goyer addressed rumors about the possible ending, something some fans have suspected might conclude with the death of the Dark Knight.

"The final scene of The Dark Knight Rises is exactly the scene we talked about when Chris and I started on the trilogy with Batman Begins. It remained completely unchanged. We both knew in our hearts that we were onto something special. I have to tell you, having finally seen everything strung together a little while ago and seeing that scene, I got a complete lump in my throat."

We'll have to wait 52 more days before all the answers spill out onto the big screen. Meanwhile, the posters keep coming. Here are two more unveiled earlier this morning.

Meanwhile, we've been adding these to the Daily Recap posts, but since you've scrolled down this far and are already immersed in the world of the Bat, here are a pair of TV spots which arrived online this week.

My mother and I are looking forward to seeing this movie to see if we will appear on thr big screen. We both were at Heinz Field for the shooting of a winter scene of a football game featuring the Gotham Rogues, which were made up of the Pittsburgh Steelers playing the parts. We had to wear our winter coats in 80 + degree temperatures in the direct sun. David Reabe

I've never been so excited for a movie release. I'm sure the Nolan bros will not disappoint. The first 2 movies were great on so many levels!

Actually Christian Bale made a comment in an interview that if the Justice League was well written, he would consider it.

According to IMDB Mr. Nolan is already working on a "reboot" script for a 2015 release... My were originally for a nolan trilogy then 10 years later he would cap it off with a movie more based on the Frank Miller classic "The Dark Knight Returns" where Superman works for the government, Batman finally kills the Joker, and alfred dies after helping bruce fake his death so he can be the bat fulltime. That book is filled with great events that I feel are deserving of a movie dedicated just to it as opposed to the blending of various books. That being said who knows whats going to happen because TDKR looks like it has hints of "Knightfall", "The Dark Knight Returns", and "The Long Halloween". In any case I'm always excited for new Batman.

You know, for the longest time, I've thought that Nolan should move TDKR back to November on account that he was robbed of an Oscar nomination for "The Dark Knight." I just want to see Nolan get a Best Director nod for something.
