The other day we brought you a list of the top ten highest grossing films of 2010, and now we have a list of the most popular video-on-demand titles. This year people were watching movies on-demand more than they ever were before, especially since cable providers (and studios) are making it easier (and more enjoyable) to watch movies at home.
Surprisingly, even though it won pretty much every other record over the past 12 months (including highest grossing box office and most pirated film), Avatar was not the most watched video-on-demand film. Comcast has released a list that touts The Blind Side as being the most popular VOD title in 2010, followed by Couples Retreat, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Hot Tub Time Machine. Avatar may have been hurt by the fact that it did not hit VOD the same day it was released on video, which can't be said for the rest of the top ten.
The list is rounded out with The Hurt Locker, It's Complicated, Shutter Island, Date Night, The Book of Eli, and then, finally, Avatar. Weird to see James Cameron's behemoth at the bottom of a list, but there you go.
