While The Hunger Games has been the box office story of 2012 thus far, early reports suggest that Joss Whedon's The Avengers is on pace to blow Gary Ross' dystopian book adaptation out of the water. Some reports have the film opening in the $160-$180 million range. Read more about and weigh in on which summer blockbuster you think is going to post the biggest number at the box office, but first, check out 32 new images from The Avengers, in theaters May 4.

I'm kinda torn on what will make more, this or the Dark Knight Rises. Thinking about it, I think the Avengers will have the biggest box office opening, but TDKR will come close. However I think TDKR will be the better of the two. Either way super excited for this movie! Just want it to come out already!

"The Dark Knight Rises," will have the bigger opening and be the better film. "The Avengers" is an unprecedented undertaking, where Marvel has gathered all of their iconic heavy-hitters in one setting and has worked at it for years, but when you look at "Rises," you should see a movie that has one of the most underrated and under appreciated master directors at the helm, trying to up the ante in the sequel to perhaps the best super hero genre film ever. "The Avengers" will be great, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm expecting "Rises" to be as legendary as its predecessor.

Amen, brother. I think legendary doesnt even begin to describe what TDKR will be.

Underrated? More like Overrated. I do like Nolan's films for the most part and don't think he is a bad director but if anything he is Overrated.
I think he is underrated because he doesn't get the type of recognition he deserves from all of the award industries like the Oscars, or Golden Globes or Director's Guild. He should at least have two Best Director nominations for "The Dark Knight," and "Inception," from the Academy and the fact that he doesn't just irks me.
I don't know, I've never cared too much for all that "Hollywood patting themselves on the back" awards, they are all just so frivolous. I don’t need some random people to tell me what is good.

Excellent action shot scenes/photos on The AVENGERS: not cheesy what so ever: I like the plane(s) of angry, rage and curious emotions on The HULK's face. Nice, to see that the Actor facial expressions is part of this Battle-Hero and I like just about all the photo's the one w/Loki sitting down & Iron Man and Captian America in the background is pretty cool, Dr. Banner's close shot, THOR catching his battle hammer...'great shot, etc.,. are really cool especially HULK. So, looking forward to the Epic impact of this MARVEL Adventure film.
As much as I want to like this, this is shaping up to be a huge turd. The trailers look uninteresting, the story looks corny, the dialogue is laughable ("We have a Hulk") and major elements are downright cheesy. (Let's face it, the only thing worse than Chris Evans as Captain America, is his costume) Unless this turns out to be a critic favorite much like Thor was, opening at 180 million would truly be a heroic accomplishment.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
"Squirrel!"
