2009's Top Movie-Inspired Halloween Costumes

Over 1,000 Fandango readers voted in our polls to try to determine which 2009 movie-inspired costumes would be the biggest hits this year…and the results may surprise you. We asked two different questions, with one looking for the most popular movie-inspired "team" costume based on a 2009 film, and the other looking for the most sought-after movie-inspired adult costume based on a character or star from a 2009 film. So, would vampires and mall cops rule the day?

 
 
Well, yes (sort of), when it came to the top 2009 movie-inspired team costumes. Coming in at number one was The Twilight Saga: New Moon (even though it doesn't hit theaters until November 20th), which was followed closely behind by The Hangover, G.I. Joe, Watchmen and Where the Wild Things Are. Also of note was the fact that we received a whole bunch of write-ins for "Alice and the Mad Hatter" costumes from Tim Burton's 2010 Alice in Wonderland, so look for those creepily cool costumes to give everyone else a run for their money next Halloween. As far as the adult costumes go, we split it up between men and women with This Is It's Michael Jackson and  Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) taking the top spot among the dudes, and New Moon's Jane the Volturi vampire girl (Dakota Fanning) surprising most by taking the top spot among the dudettes.
