'Scream 5' Will End Film Series, New Story Will Continue on TV

Two years have passed since Scream 4 arrived in theaters and with it, persistent rumors of a fifth film.

Speaking at the Zurich International Film Festival, producer Harvey Weinstein said he wants the fifth Scream movie to wrap up the film series adding that he'd like his brother Bob to direct it. Bob Weinstein has produced all four previous Scream movies but never directed. That job has gone to horror legend Wes Craven on all four films.

Harvey Weinstein adds that, "Everyone lived in Scream 4. I'm begging him to do the movie and just end it. We've milked that cow."

But if you think the Weinsteins are done with the Scream franchise for good, think again.

Scream will live on in the form of an MTV series which Weinstein has said would take a different direction than the films. Craven is set to direct the pilot episode which is expected to premiere next summer.
