Life of Crime Trailer: A new adaptation of a novel by the late, great Elmore Leonard (Get Shorty) will arrive in theaters on August 29. Life of Crime stars Jennifer Aniston, Tim Robbins, Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def), John Hawkes and Isla Fisher in the tale of a kidnapped wife, her philandering husband, his mistress and two determined criminals; the first trailer looks very promising.  [Yahoo]


The Ladykillers

Coen's Cold War Thriller: Talk about versatility! We just heard that the Coen brothers are readying a "comical yarn" about old Hollywood, and now comes word that they've been hired to write a new draft of a script for director Steven Spielberg. Tom Hanks is attached to star in the (currently untitled) Cold War thriller, which is based on the real-life story of an attorney who negotiated with the Russian KGB to result in the release of spy-plane pilot Gary Powers back in 1960. The Coens previously worked with Hanks on 2004's The Ladykillers (above). [The Hollywood Reporter]


Lego Ninjago

Ninjago: Warner Bros. has officially confirmed its plans to expand the universe of The Lego Movie with an animated 3D spin-off titled Ninjago. It's a "boy friendly" property featuring "ninjas, dragons and mystical snakes" that has already inspired an animated TV series (above). The movie will be directed by Charlie Bean (TRON: Uprising) and has been scheduled for release on September 23, 2016. [Deadline]


Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas Trailer: The first trailer has arrived for Happy Christmas, written and directed by the prolific Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies). After a breakup, Anna Kendrick moves in with her brother (Swanberg), his wife (Melanie Lynskey) and their young son, leading to all sorts of complications. Lena Dunham and Mark Webber also star; the movie is due out on June 26. [YouTube]
