Up until this point, all we've seen of Mad Max: Fury Road were scattered still images of Tom Hardy as Mad Max, most of which were in black and white and looked weathered. But that kinda fits the motif of a Mad Max movie: raw, weathered, badass and just enough "crazy" to keep you interested for the several years this sucker has been in various stages of production.
But now it's ready to reveal itself in beautiful color, as per this cover of Entertainment Weekly that shows off both Hardy and costar Charlize Theron, who plays a version of Sigourney Weaver from Alien 3. Kidding! Actually she plays a character named Imperator Furiosa, which should tell you that this Mad Max movie is definitely going to be a little wild, a little weird and definitely a little furious-a. We wouldn't expect anything less.
Some more images have now arrived, and we've featured them below, including this first image full of postapocalyptic automobiles and soldiers that absolutely screams "Mad Max movie."
In typical Mad Max fashion, the last plot synopsis we received was chock-full of awesome names and the promise of an epic road-trip movie across a wasteland on something called a War Rig.
“Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived.”
Mad Max: Fury Road hits theaters on May 15, 2015, 30 years after the previous Mad Max movie hit theaters. Can Tom Hardy fill Mel Gibson's mighty shoes? What do you think?
