J.K. Rowling Posts New 'Harry Potter' Story That Takes Place After 'Deathly Hallows'

If there's one thing author J.K. Rowling has proved since she finally bid farewell to the character of Harry Potter, it's that good-byes certainly don't last forever. Not only is she working on a new big-screen Potter spin-off based on the 2001 novel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but she's also dabbling in future Potter stories, debuting a brand-new Harry Potter story on the site Pottermore.com that takes place after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and follows adult versions of Harry, Ron and Hermione.

The story is told from the perspective of Daily Prophet gossip reporter Rita Skeeter and it takes place at the Quidditch World Cup. Harry is attending with his wife Ginny, while the married couple of Ron and Hermione are also there.

So what's the latest with Mr. Potter?

"Harry works at the Ministry of Magic, is about to turn 34, and, as Skeeter says, “there are a couple of threads of silver in the famous Auror's black hair, but he continues to wear the distinctive round glasses that some might say are better suited to a style-deficient 12-year-old,” according to The Wrap. "He also has a cut on his cheek, which Skeeter speculates could mean dark days ahead, given Potter's important job as defender against the Dark Arts."

Dark days ahead? Could we see Rowling return to the world of Harry Potter for a more adult-themed adventure story? Would that mean more Harry Potter movies?

While the story was most likely written to coincide with the opening of Diagon Alley at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Florida--not to mention we have the World Cup still playing out in Brazil--Rowling does prove here that you should never say never. There may still be more Potter stories to be written and watched.
