Loved this movie! Not many examples of interracial romance, sex, marriage in movies...this is a good example brought about by tragic events.....includes two very hot sex scenes between the main characters.........and remember she won an academy award for her performance.......eventually Billy Bob buys her a gas station and moves her into his house.........you are on the edge of your seat to see what happens to the main characters as she discovers Billy Bob was one of the guards that "kill" her husband........you are up and down emotionally the entire movie....both lose their only sons......

MONSTER'S BALL - Uncompromising and Provocative

Billy Bob Thorton and Halle Berry give multi-dimensional performances in this searingly grim but ultimately uplifting tale of two very different people finding comfort and solace in each other's company after very life-altering tragedy strikes. Widely lauded film earns its accolades and every other performance right down the line is excellent, including Heath Ledger and Sean (Puffy) Combs as a man on death row. Even the usually lovable Peter Boyle shows up in an odd bit of casting playing Thorton's despicably racist father! Film's parallel themes of redemption found in the most unusual places and learning to unteach racist upbringing are dealt with head on by the writer and director and the results are scorchingly good! Some very explicit sex and graphic execution scene may dissuade some viewers, but they are again handled with restraint and economy to propel the plot of the story arc.
