A Worthy Debut for Dario Deak
This thriller may not be Hitchcock caliber, but Dario Deak has earned his place with an impressive debut; a forceful splash onto the contemporary filmmaking scene. This role should prove to be the chance that Deak has been waiting for.
Some of the film's limitations overshadow the many accomplishments within. The moves from brilliance to absurdity occur too often, yet filmmaker Catherine Pirotta has assembled a strong cast in her most significant work to date. While she is best known within the Latin filmmaking community (born in Lima, Peru), she is now positioned as a major feature film director with all the skills necessary for mastering the craft.
There were moments in the film when the audience is completely unaware that the film was created by such a young team. The film's intensity is played to the heights of suspense and Deak's performance is captivating. While the translation from script to screen has its flaws, this is a worthy beginning for several film careers.
