    A Clockwork Orange

Before you see the movie, I'd definitely suggest reading the book A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. The book and movie are both worth spending a few hours of your life on, though be warned, they are both "ultra violent" and truly disturbing. The movie has value though, it's a fairly original look at how society deals with things that can cause it discomfort, both morally and immorally. The real magic of the movie is how Kubrick can create sympathy for a really despicable main character. Anyway, A Clockwork Orange is worth seeing, just don't bring your underage children.

    Classic Dark Comedy

Clockwork is the classic dark comedy. Becuase although in many ways it is quite disturbing, it is also quite funny. It takes a idea that sounds like the cure to all crimes and criminals and shows us that although it seems good on the surface, in reality it creates more problems then solutions. This movie is one that made Stanely Kubrick famous and a household name. It is a eye opening experience in more ways then one. It shows us how powerful upbringing and mind control can be. And how grateful we should be that we have the freedom to make our own decisions and choices whether good or bad. I would recommend the book as well.
