  • Oh No!

    Oh Nooooo.........

I was looking forward to this movie. The previews were spectacular. Finally, Saturday came and I was on my way to the theater full of excitment and expectation. Flash forward 2 hours later; as I walked out of the theater, I was nearly tempted to ask for a refund. This movie is a monumental failure. It will most likely earn a Razzie. Just awful. But, the odd thing is, I REALLY want to be able to say it was good. It TRIED to be good. It WANTED to be good. It just WASN'T even CLOSE to good. The script was laughable - I sat there wondering if this was a "spoof" type movie (like the Scary Movie or Airplane type movies); had I misunderstood? Was this SUPPOSED to be funny and I just misunderstood the previews?? No. Sadly; no. You children might like it (I would suggest 7 to 12 yr olds - any kid older than that will see through the sillyness of this movie.) The mammoths and giant cat were interesting to watch - but for me that wasn't enough.

People who write negative reviews were misled by the trailer

The trailer of this film led to high expectations for most people who saw this film. Everybody who saw the trailer expected a summer blockbuster when they got a decent film.
The whole point of the movie is to tell the story of a man who risks his life to save the one he loves. Steven Strait and Camilla Belle are both great actors who are very early in their career.
I think most people who saw this film expected an action film. Be a little realistic here, do you expect a small man to take on a saber tooth tiger with a spear?D'Leh is a mammoth hunter who knows how to get mammoth's to "charge". He used that to his advantage to defeat a stronger enemy. He didn't go around with a spear killing hundreds of guys, he did not kick guys off the pyramid. It was a realistic action film. Yes the script was not great, but it was not horrible. Good movie unless you expect a hunter/gather man take on a civilization more advanced without help. This movie is good, trailer made it out to be more action

10,000 Reasons Why This Is a Fun Movie

Well, actually, not 10,000 reasons, just a few. It's fun. It's a fully imagined, alternate history movie. It looks great. The special effects are good. There are characters you care about. You get to know their family. You get to know their village, their culture and their way of life. They travel to places so different from their homes they have to learn how to function in the new environment and interpret things they've never seen before. This is not art film. It's a fun movie worth going to see.
