This documentary takes a look at the life of young, troubled artist Daniel Johnston. The manic-depressive genius showed signs at an early age of a rare creative gift. But his conservative parents drove him away, where he ended up broke in Austin, Texas. After a brief moment in the spotlight with help from MTV exposure, Johnston's inner problems began to consume him.
