The internet is buzzing over news that David Goyer (co-writer on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) is most likely going to write the new Superman movie, hoping to breathe new life into a franchise that really deserves to be back on the big screen in full force. However, chances are very great that both Brandon Routh and Bryan Singer won't be back this time around. So, that leaves us wondering who should play the next Superman.
Will Smith, Superman, John Krasinski, Chace Crawford, Scott Porter, Nathan Fillion
If it's not Tom Welling then it's not worth watching. The last time around the messed up big time with Superman Returns this time around you would figure they would care what the public wants. The entire Smallville Franchise should be carried over into the new movies. We've watched him for 10 years and we are connected to him the same way we were with Christopher Reeves. If Hollywood aims to make money off this they should care about what people want. Families are tired of movies we can't take our family too. Are you listening Hollywood!
Tom Welling has to be the next Superman. He's played him for 10 years now! He's not only earned it, but realy, think about it. The last Superman film was a dud. So why take the chance of casting someone else? People know Tom, and love him as Clark Kent/Superman. Millions of fans want him to be the next Superman, so why make the mistake of casting someone else and lossing money? In order to bring back the success of Superman as it was with Donners films, they need Tom for the part. And really, mix in some of the Smallville world with this new film. A t.v. show doesn't stay on for 10 years without having millions of fans supporting it. And forget Brandon, he was playing Chris Reeve more than Clark Kent/Superman. Tom Welling 100% !!
While Tom Welling is nice to look at on the TV screen I just don't see the depth to carry a film like Superman. Brandon Routh is the same, he did an adequate job in the last Superman film but there was something missing. The combination of drama and comedy is so important in this role. It's tough, Chris Reeve, a Julliard trained actor, was amazing...to find someone who could come close to filling his shoes...it won't be easy.
Either Tom Welling or Brandon Routh should play Superman!!!!
Everyone else is a piece of crap!!!!!
everyone here is a joke as a superman.
Will Smith playing Superman is a joke. It's not racist, it's just ignorant. Superman is a light skinned individual from an ice planet. You woudn't cast Will Smith to play a Norwegian would you? I really like Will Smith but I don't want him in my Superman movies. He needs to get his ears fixed before he tries to play a "real" superhero
If Tom Welling ever puts on "the suit".....................nobody else is ever going to be able to follow that because of all of the build-up to get him to that point.
So you'll have to pay him a crap load of money. You know how many Smallville freaks will line up at the theatres just to see him in that suit? ('cause it ain't gonna happen on TV........we're just gonna get teased)
TOM WELLING ALL THE WAY!!! IF HE IS NOT CASTED I WILL NOT WATCH THE MOVIE!!!!
Brandon Routh was too young looking and way to skinny. His Clark Kent role was all wrong too. Too yuppie looking. The next superman should be a real body builder with huge muscular form just like in the comics. And, if Lex luther could stab superman with a green stone, why didn't he do it in his heart?? The Green Kryptonite can't kill him, only weaken or make him sick, but never can it cut into his body.. Stop the Lex Luther already and the green rock stuff. Superman should be shown to really be faster than a speeding bullet. How come in Superman Returns, he had trouble slowing the plane down? How come in Superman 2 with Chris Reeve, the manhole cover did not bounce off him when is krypton foes through it at him? Thinkers are needed!
Look Brandon Roth is a great superman the movie was how it was suppose to be in the original we was getting introduced to superman and thats how it was suppose to be with superman return now with that being said the man problem is it was too much like spiderman him crying over being superman that was never the problem in the comic book in the next movie bring Brandon back and the director because when he did x-men 2 he allowed wolverine to cut loose take a page out of Superman 2 and have lex luther join forces with darkseid in these comic movies you have to have an equal villian
DC Comics is not going to throw 70 years of history out the window by having a black, native American or Hindu Superman. It doesn't matter if the actor is talented or not. They will want continuity with the way the comic book portrays the character.
Brandon Routh was a boring Superman. I hope they lose him and the entire cast from the last movie. The only scene of interest in the last movie was when he saved the plane from crashing.
And please, can someone think of a villian besides Lex Luthor????? Superman has such a rich history. Braniac or Metallo would be much more interesting.
John Krasinski come on the dude has face parts to big for his head, his ears, mouth and nose are HUGE. You need somone who is built and STRONG LOOKING Gerard BUTLER if he can hold back his accent OR Jensen Ackles Both of which are good actors and are built to play the role.
Although my first choice would be Brandon Routh, I can live with Tom Welling in the reboot.
In my opinion they can't introduce 3 different actors as Superman in less than a decade it's a blasphemy to the legend... and for what a new top grossing film.... pfff...
Is it just me, or is Krasinski funny (as in strange) looking?
I think Hollywood should concentrate on getting an A list screenwriting team to generate a kick *** storyline and then worry about who's gonna be cast later. If the movie is dazzling then it won't matter so much who plays the lead in it. I think of "2012" with John Cusack sleepwalking through the role would be a good example of a movie succeeding despite the weak casting. That goofball Woody Harrelson even outshined him.
Tom Welling, for sure.
Tom Welling for Superman and Michael Rosenbaum as the evil Lex Luthor, he did a fantastic job with that character, better than Kevin Spacey. Luthor should be a billionaire, not a criminal, if this is going to work.
I think Scott Porter could look the part the best. What a hottie -- Extreme close-up, please!! He is a bit young, though.
Without a doubt, it HAS to be Tom Welling!! Come on, he's got 9 years of experience playing the man of steel, he's got the body (dude he's like 6'4") and he's got real muscles, and he's more than handsome, he's downright gorgeous! Remember how handsome Christopher Reeve was as the man of steel? I mean, that curl was making me drool! And Tom has the looks AND the talent to light up that big ol movie screen. Heck, he' started out as an Abercrombie and Fitch model, so he knows how to work a camera. I think, if Tom gets cast as the next Superman, millions of his fans will be all too happy to go see it, myself included. I just pray for once, that casting will do the right thing and give the people what they want!! And keep the suit red!!!!
and if not him then krasinski, cause i want my superman to be funny, unlike that dipshit wellington
i want eli roth!! -- you all know him as "the bear jew" in inglourious basterds
Did anyone mention John Hamm?
Chace Crawford Number # 1 choice
what are you a retard? this has been the worst picks I've ever seen!
We agree with eachother again!
Well I am a strong believer with other people, that Tom Welling is a great fit for this role. Not only because of I would assume there are thousands of fans of the show Smallville who would agree, but other than Brandon Routh as my other choice, I don't believe anyone else can pull it off successfully. So do the right thing executives, Routh or Welling. :)
