Today in Movie Culture: ‘Brightburn’ Motion Comic, ‘Aladdin’ Music Video for New Song “Speechless” and More

Bonus Movie Preview of the Day:

The James Gunn-produced Brightburn debuts in theaters this weekend, and given its twist on Superman’s origin story from DC Comics, Sony Pictures has released a motion comic setting up the movie’s premise. Watch this for a very cool visual foundation for the horror movie about an alien kid using his powers for evil:

 

Music Video of the Day:

Also new to theaters is Disney’s live-action reimagining of Aladdin, which stars Naomi Scott in the role of Princess Jasmine. She performs a new song called “Speechless” in the movie, and the studio has released an official music video for the empowering tune featuring Scott and footage from the remake. Watch it here:

 

Classic Movie Trailer of the Day:

With the live-action version of Aladdin finally hitting theaters, let’s look back on the nearly 27-year-old movie upon which it’s based. Here is the original trailer for Disney’s Oscar-winning animated feature of Aladdin, which initially opened in just two U.S. theaters on November 13, 1992:

 

Alternate Ending of the Day:

Speaking of the original 1992 Aladdin, you will find some of the story has changed a bit for the remake, but not quite in the way that the gang at How It Should Have Ended would have preferred. Here’s a parody of the animated classic showing an alternate direction for the way the original version could have concluded:

 

Mash-up of the Day:

Speaking of alternate endings, Aldo Jones and Rain Group Animation created an epic battle scene based on the climactic battle of Avengers: Endgame. This time, joining Iron Man, Hulk and Captain Marvel in defeating Thanos are Wolverine, Colossus and Deadpool from the X-Men franchise:

 

Cosplay of the Day:

Do you have enough friends to re-create the final battle of Avengers: Endgame? That’s a whole lot of heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe on display. Well, a bunch of fans organized a Marvel cosplay gathering earlier this month, and as part of the fun, the necessary individuals participated in an Endgame battle photoshoot. Filmmakers in Focus:

Joe and Anthony Russo, the fraternal duo who directed Avengers: Endgame, as well as Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War and some non Marvel movies and TV series, break down their directorial career in this video for Vanity Fair:

 

Actor in the Spotlight:
