Movie News: Woody Harrelson Joins Tom Hardy's 'Venom'

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Venom: Woody Harrelson (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, above) has joined the cast of Venom, reuniting with Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer. Reportedly, Harrelson will play "a henchman of sorts." Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate and Riz Ahmed star in the action adventure, which is now in production. It's scheduled for release on October 5, 2018. [Variety]

Burial Rites: Jennifer Lawrence (above in mother!) will star in the crime drama Burial Rites, to be directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name). It's based on a novel by Hannah Kent, first published in 2013, that follows a woman in Iceland in 1830 who was sentenced to death for killing two men. [Variety]

 

Girls Trip

Shaft: Regina Hall (Girls Trip, above) has joined the cast of Shaft. Jessie T. Usher will star as an FBI agent who conducts his own investigation into a friend's mysterious death, reluctantly calling upon his estranged father, John Shaft (Samuel L. Jackson), for help; Hall will play the agent's mother. Alexandra Shipp and Richard Roundtree also star. Tim Story (Ride Along 2) will direct. [Variety]

Bright Trailer: Will Smith stars in a new trailer for Bright. He plays a police detective who partners with an Orc (Joel Edgerton) to deal with a dangerous new threat. Noomi Rapace also stars; the action thriller will debut on Netflix on December 22. [Movieclips]
