Next 3 Suspense Thrillers: 'Black Christmas,' 'Underwater,' 'The Turning'

Ewan McGregor stars in Doctor Sleep as Dan Torrance, all grown up from the terrifying experiences of his youth, but not quite ready for the horrors to come when he and young Abra Stone (Kyliegh Curran) encounter the evil Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson) and her followers. Director Mike Flanagan freely adapted Stephen King's novel, a sequel to the latter's classic The Shining, giving the new film surprising new twists and turns.

Best seen on the big screen, Doctor Sleep will leave audiences eager for more suspense and surprises. Here are three that we're already anticipating.

 

Black Christmas

Drawing from classic source material, writer/director Sophia Takal and cowriter April Wolfe have no doubt cooked up macabre, delightful twists for the all-new horror thriller. The premise is that female college students are stalked by a masked stranger during a holiday break, but hints are already being dropped that the stalker has an even more deadly agenda in mind.

Underwater

Seven miles beneath the surface of the sea, a team of scientists undertakes a desperate mission in a nail-biting thriller. The team's prospects for survival dim further when they come in contact with their worst nightmares. Kristen Stewart stars.

The Turning

Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate) stars as the new governess for two children (Finn Wolfhard, Brooklynn Prince) grieving the death of their parents. She thinks she is there to assist the children, but she soon realizes that she is the one who needs help, as the youngsters manifest begin acting in very, very strange and threatening ways.
