Young people continue to be enchanted anew by Transformers, creatures who start off looking like toys before becoming mighty warriors. Yet their appeal transcends generations, as the filmmakers behind the new Transformers adventure Bumblebee explain in a new video.
"I'm a child of the 80s," director Travis Knight says in the video. "I grew up playing with the Transformers action figures." John Cena declares: "I vividly remember transforming Optimus Prime." Young Hailee Steinfeld, who stars as teenage Charlie, notes with enthusiasm: "It's awesome to go back and see where Bumblebee came from." We hear from veteran producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, as well as visual effects supervisor Jason Smith and production designer Sean Haworth, about the creative decisions involved in bringing Transformers to life on the big screen.
Tickets to Bumblebee are now on sale. The action film opens in theaters everywhere on December 21.
