Gal Gadot has been stuck in the DC Extended Universe lately, playing Wonder Woman in her own movie as well as Justice League and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and she's currently shooting Wonder Woman 2. She could use a break, a change of pace. Fortunately, according to Deadline, she's just been cast in Red Notice and will next pivot to that action comedy, which is due in theaters exactly two years from tomorrow.
The new gig won't be totally strange for the actress. Red Notice will team her up with Dwayne Johnson, her former co-star in a couple of Fast and Furious installments that their characters overlapped for (they're also both technically DC characters, with Johnson set to play Black Adam at some point). And her character in the movie sounds like she could be a professional colleague of her Wonder Woman alter ego, Diana Prince.
Want to know more? Here's everything we know about Red Notice:
What is the movie about?
Not much is known about the plot of Red Notice, save for it being an original idea described as a globe-trotting action-comedy heist-thriller kind of thing, involving an Interpol agent chasing the world's most wanted art thief. There will be three main characters, however, two men and one woman.
Who is starring in the movie?
Dwayne Johnson was the first to be cast in the movie, back in February, and he's playing the Interpol agent. His Fast and Furious franchise co-star Gal Gadot has now joined as a "brilliant and mysterious figure in the art world" (at the Louvre, maybe, like Wonder Woman?). Reportedly there will be a third star boarding the project in another lead male role.
Who is directing Red Notice?
Rawson Marshall Thurber, who has previously worked with Dwayne Johnson on Central Intelligence and the upcoming Skyscraper, is at the helm of the movie. Thurber also wrote the screenplay.
When does it come out?
Red Notice will begin shooting in April 2019 for a release date set for June 12, 2020.
