Five Most Memorable Oscar Moments: 2019 Edition

The 91st Academy Awards show was filled to the brim with touching, unique and startling highlights. Here are the five most memorable Oscar moments from last night's show.

After Queen rocked the house to start the show, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler presented the first award of the evening, in hilarious fashion.

An early highlight arrived when Ruth E. Carter received her Academy Award for Best Costume Design. Black Panther thus became the first Marvel Studios production to win an Oscar, while Carter became the first African-American to win the award in that category.

Spike Lee won his first Academy Award in a competitive category, sharing the win with fellow BlacKkKlansman screenwriters David Rabinowitz, Charlie Wachtel and Kevin Willmott. Lee gave a joyous and impassioned acceptance speech.

After performing "Shallow" to perfection, live with Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. She shared the prize with Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt, but the moment on stage was all hers, as her collaborators agreed.

In the biggest surprise of the evening, Olivia Colman won the Oscar as Best Actress for the atypical historical picture The Favourite. In her funny and very modest speech, the actress acknowledged her fellow performers, including Glenn Close (The Wife), who was widely expected to win.
