ZERO DARK THIRTY amps up the tension from the first scene and rarely backs-off until the end. Even knowing the "story" and its outcome do not prepare you for the shock and immediacy of this film. Granted that there has been some public walking-back on the film's emphasis on "enhanced interrogation" techniques, torture remains a large part of our initial response to 9/11. The central character, Maya, the lead CIA analyst struggling to find Usama bin Laden, is a porcupine personality, lovingly referred to by associates and her supervisors as a "killer." There are a lot of exceptional performances in this film, but the single most impressive is that of the director, K. Bigelow, who delivers and even more awe-inspiring experience than THE HURT LOCKER. I rate this must-see, but be advised it is very tough, gritty and upsetting.

Pay attention, Hollywood. This is how it's done.
There couldn't have been a better presentation to depict this difficult material. This movie isn't a fist pump for Democrats or fist bump for Republicans. It's not a feel good for Americans. It's the nitty gritty and ugly truth of the tortured captives, lives lost, and faith in others that were necessary to track down Osama Bin Ladin.
This movie is shot with excessive detail. There is sweat where there should be sweat. There is very little use of a score. Zero Dark Thirty let's the acting, silence, and visuals set the tone.
I haven't seen a movie in a very long time where the audience is completely silent. No chewing, no shuffling, no crackling plastic wrappers... The audience was fully enthralled. This may very well be the best movie I've seen all year (as you can see I watch a lot of movies!).
Zero Dark Thirty is as good as it gets. If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!

Interesting version of events leading up to and after the killing of Bin Laden. However, the film spent too much time on glorifying torture and water-boarding and not enough on developing characters. The film was also far too long and became tedious at times. OK movie, but not one of the great ones this season.

Really interesting movie. I always wondered what took so long to capture Bin Laden, and this movie made it pretty much clear why. Really worth the while to see it! The woman who played Maya did a really good job, too.
