This film is entertaining, inspiring and exceedingly beautiful. It manages to approach its very serious and somber subject matter in a though provoking way while managing to remain lighthearted and at times downright funny. Zaytoun is well acted (the kid is amazing), with outstanding cinematography, but its greatest triumph is its uniquely personal and humanistic portrayal of a heavily politicized and controversial issue. Its does not skirt the reality of the situation, which can at times seem insurmountable, but leaves you feeling hopeful that trust and understanding can overcome fear and hatred. I can not understand how Zaytoun received mixed reviews from critics, the entire audience in the theater in which I saw the movie clearly enjoyed it and everyone I have talked to loved it. Best movie I have seen all year!
