Fun nostalgia time for parents

It's really geared for younger kids, but I had fun reminiscing with the different video game characters from my youth. It's fun to watch and, even though the intended audience is younger kids, I had a lot of fun and thought the message was invaluable. I like that this movie addressed bullying and taking chances.

I'll start by saying that my sensitive 9yr old did not like this movie and was crying at the sad part in the movie. If you have a sensitive child who doesn't like commotion in a movie this is not the movie for them. My husband and I enjoyed the film and thought the plot was clever and entertaining. This wasn't your typical happy go lucky kids movie.

They could have edited a few more things out like the 2 'passionate' kisses and some of the put-downs (althouh you had to be paying really close attention to hear them all) which were not at all necessary. I think it was a funny, creative movie with a good message. I checked Common Sense Media before I left and although it had an age '7' noted, my almost 5-yr old was ok there because of the fast talking and she couldn't catch some of the wise cracks fast enough to repeat them. She also was not as familiar with many of the 'old-school' characters to appreciate the creativity. But if you're looking for one to take all the kids (about ages 4/5 and up), you'd be ok with this choice. It is definitely action-packed for girl and boys.
