Inane, vapid, idiotic. Walked out after 45 minutes; the writing was too painful. Would have been better if the horse could talk: "H e l l o, W i l b e r !!!"

A disclaimer first--my husband and I watch movies from our hearts, checking our cynicism and analyzing minds at the door, and that is the way to enjoy this movie. It is moving, deep, magical, well-acted, and mysterious. I would suggest seeing it with someone who is a romantic and allows themselves to be moved by beauty. I am lucky enough to have this with my husband, and he understood when I cried all the way out of the theater and then at home for an hour afterward. He shed a few tears himself, which I love about him.
Winter's Tale reminded me of important life truths my heart knows, but which I have mostly forgotten in recent years. People without much emotional depth, or who like to nod off during the "slow parts," should probably save their money and go see something with lots of guns and zombies. This is a movie for romantics, aptly opening on Valentine's Day, although it is not a typical love story. You'll see. And you'll never look at the night sky the same way again.

I loved the message that the film provided. The plot line was easy for me to follow as was the overall message of the writer and director. My granddaughter connected extremely close with the character of Willow due to a similar malady.
All actors (main and supporting) were very endearing and spot on with their characters. The actor portraying Lucifer was a very surprising yet clever selection.
While it may not win much at the top level reviews and awards, except for cinematography, the film was thoroughly enjoyable and a heart-warming experience.

Good: well acted, interesting theme, not predictable, nice blend of fantasy and romance
Bad: Must suspect critical analysis in parts; overlook some things that just don't work
Overall: Go IF you want to have a nice time with someone with whom you are close. Much better than one might have expected and not your typical romantic comedy.

Winter's Tale was a beautiful story when it came to the romantic part of it. Though I realize that we do live in a world of good and evil, they gave Satan too much compassion even for his henchmen. He doesn't care about anyone but himself. But the best part of the movie was even though one life is lost another one is saved and the moral of the story is that faith and goodness always prevails evil.
