    Not plausible....

I felt the story line very weak. Too many holes in the script. Black or dark images on white snow does not make for interesting visuals. Action sequences were filmed in the hurky jerky close-up style that gives you a headache trying to figure out what you are seeing.
Rent "The Thing" directed by Carpenter and take notes on how to film in the snow and ice....

    Whiteout- Worth the Ticket Cost

First, Whiteout is not a Sci-Fi movie, it's a suspenseful murder mystery set in the Antarctic. The lead actor is a very pretty U.S. Marshal; the only Marshal for thousands of miles.

The special effects are good, and the dangers of life in the Antarctic are well represented. I did not tire of the plot, and the gore is kept to levels supported by the plot. It's especially good because the main character (female) is strong, yet feminine. They did not resort to making her "butch" to be tough. She is tough the real way, by doing the job whatever it takes, and paying the physical and mental price required.

There are also some good supporting roles in the movie to help it along. Go see it, but don't expect video-game level action. It's a good murder mystery for thinking adults.

Whiteout is in need of whiteout

    by UKflash

Do not waste your time on this movie. The script is in need of copious amounts of whiteout. The dialogue is so incredibly cheesy you wonder if the writer and director we sniffing whiteout while filming this movie.

The only thing going is the 'wow factor' that is Kate Beckinsale. The opening 2 minute shower scene will have most men salivating. Once this is gone all that is left is a pitiful plot, bad acting and silly dialogue. Sniffing whiteout is bad for your health. Watching Whiteout is bad for your brain since you will lose many from this brain rot experience of a movie.

It was okay. The storyline wasn't real impressive and neither was the acting. The best part of the movie was the scenery. If you were my friend I wouldn't suggest you see it at the theaters.

    Whiteout is a wash out

Do you need a nap? Go to Whiteout. Most boring movie I have seen in years. Six of us went together, ages from 25 to 79. All rated it a big bore. The most exciting part is in the trailer...she falls through the snow. Whoopee. Lots of blowing snow and a big fight scene in the blowing snow but that is the most tense it gets unless you like to watch amputations. Really not a fun flick. My husband enjoyed it as a comparison to his time stationed at the Ross Ice Station while in the Navy. He did 3 tours of duty there. He said they did a fairly credible job of portraying Antarctica. However, planes ALWAYS fly with skies (not wheels) as shown n the movie. The research station should have had a cover over it. And in general people "on the ice" do not head out away from the station when a major storm is heading toward them. It is a major No-No.

    It might have been good.

f you are a fan of Ms. Beckinsale, then the good news is that she is in virtually every scene of this movie save the short intro. If you are a fan of beautiful scenery, then the cinematography of the Antartic region is superb. If you like entertaining movies then you will be disappointed. The movie is a hackneyed "who done it" which is easily guessed and opts to pass on possible development for a decent sci-fi movie. Myself, I am a fan of Ms. Beckinsale but wish she would chose projects that would add to her considerable charisma on screen rather than just a meal ticket such as this and Click. But I guess we do live in hard financial times. Wait for this one on cable or DVD, you won't have to wait long. I rate it C-.

    Whiteout

Fascinating scenery of Antarctica; that alone made it worth the ticket price. I would say very good, but not great movie. Different, interesting because of the very unusual setting - most of us are not at all familiar with outposts in Antarctica and what life would be like there. The plot kept my interest, was suspenseful, and the acting was good. I recommend it. Alot of gore and violence; wouldn't take kids; okay for teenagers.

    Not bad at all

It was not bad... It did keep you on your toes and well I think this movie could have been a great climax for an Alien movie - have them find some frozen UFO or something - but hey, it did have a twist and I think it probably is better than the other movies that are currently out...

    Lifetime movie at best

don't waste your money. not even for the dvd.
if you see it on tv...you might find it bearable.
It was ok for the first 1/3. But went south quickly (pun intended)

and it had the MOST pathetic anti-climatic ending of all time. complete joke! It was an "are you serios?" kind of moment.

    Could have been better

The trailer for this movie made it seem a lot different than it actually is. What i mean by that is that the trailer for this movie made me think that it had some kind of creature or alien killing off the people in this movie but it was completely different. This movie was OK, but it had a lot of blank spots, which weren't filled in. If you like murder mysteries this is something for you. Although it is very predictable. This movie is more for a senior aged group, and you can definitely add this movie to the waiting list for movies to see once out on DVD.
