Touching movie

Written December 08, 2008
I was lucky enough to see this movie at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, and it was wonderful. The main cast, director and producers were at the screening and answered questions about the movie afterwards. John Leguizamo gives a great and varied performance, Leonor Varela was so good, she had me in tears in a few scenes, and the children David Castro and Samantha M. Rose were wonderful. Expect big things from David Castro - he's already been in numerous movies. The children were very real, and even uplifting in a few scenes (like Samantha M. Rose during the family dinner - she stole the scene). That scene made me laugh out loud, which was welcome in a movie so rife with tragedy. All in all, an unexpected feel good movie, which brings to light a tremendous plight many families in America and around the world face. Run, don't walk, to see Where God Left His Shoes.
