During the '50s and '60s, renowned theater director, and choreographer Wendy Toye was one of the few British females to become a film director known for her fantasies and comedies. As a youngster, Toye was a child prodigy in ballet appearing in films such as Dance Pretty Lady (1931). In 1947, she formed Ballet-Hoo de Wendy Toye, her own ballet company.
