Every bit as good as the book!

Normally I hate going to see movies based on my favorite books, and I had pretty low expectations for this one (although the book was phenomenal). Hallelujah, this director got it right!!! The scenery, costumes, and acting are all A+ quality. There is plenty of action and even my fiance said his man-card was still intact. This film has a big-budget look and feel about it, and I am so glad I spent the $8. I was nervous about Robert Pattinson's portrayal of the main character, but he completely broke out of his Twilight mold and gave depth and emotion to our hero, Jacob Jankowski. I did not feel any disappointment (in comparison to the book). On the contrary, I feel that this is one of the few based-upon-a-novel films that have actually done the book justice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Too Long, Read the Book

This movie had a few good moments, Reese Witherspoon was lovely in period costumes and Robert Pattison is always easy to look at, but the scenes of animal and human cruelty were hard to take. The movie was set in the depression era (very depressing) and I am not a fan of the circus, so while it had a happy ending, it took too tortuously long to get there. I should have waited for this one to come out on DVD and saved my FANDANGO promo tix for a better movie.

The acting was good, but my daughter and I almost walked out a couple of times due to the violence with animals. Very violent movie, everyone gets beaten including the elephant. I would not recommend it

I went to see Water for Elephants with my daughter, Ashley, who is a big Robert Pattinson fan. I went without any pre-conceived notions because I have not read the book and/or seen to many previews about this movie. I LOVED IT! I love Reese Witherspoon movies most of the time and the two of them were wonderful in this movie together. My daughter was saying alot of people thought there wasn't any chemistry between them but I thought there was. Robert Pattinson is a wonderful actor! The story line was wonderful, even with the hard to watch scenes of animal abuse. Will have to get the book now and read it. This is one movie I wouldn't mind paying to go see again. LOVED IT!

Water for Elephants

The screen writers came as close to the book as possible for the length of the film. They laid the story out and it was true to the book for the most part. Robert Pattinson is definitely coming up a notch in his acting abilities and Reece Witherspoon and Christof Waltz were also very good in their rolls. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would definitely recommend it to be on the to been seen list of pictures.
