A sweet movie
I loved this. Seeing day to day life in Saudi Arabia from the perspective of 10 year old Wadjda really brought me into the culture in a way that I didn't expect. Although my first instinct was Western outrage at the (from my viewpoint) ridiculous restrictions on women, the matter-of-fact way that Wadjda maneuvered through her world was the way that all kids wriggle through the incomprehensible adult rules and guidelines. If you yes the adults to death, develop a facility for half truths and deception, and exploit the fact that adults just don't pay that much attention to what kids do, you can do almost anything you like.
Definitely bittersweet but very much worth your time.
