DO NOT BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT SHILLS ON THIS SITE!!!!

    by jamm99

Jist finished seeing the movie and it was definitely better than i expected and judging by the audience reaction in the theatre, i'm not the only one who enjoyed it. There was applause at the end of the movie which doesn't happen often. DO NOT BE DISTRACTED BY THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS SITE!! THEY HAVE AN AGENDA!!! THEY ARE NOT EVEN REVIEWING THE MOVIES BUT RATHER TRYING TO BASH THE POSITIVE REVIEWERS!!! It's amazing how we let a drunk fratboy with family money and connections become the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.. I am neither republican or democrat and up until this year, i haven't paid much attention to politics. Doing research on my own really opened my eyes to what the government is capable of doing. LIke everyone who grew up in the U.S., I've been taught that America is a benevolant force which strives for the well being of the human race and what a shock when you realize that the government is lying to the American people to advance their nefarious agenda.

    My President Right or Wrong

It's interesting how quickly other Republicans attacked the reviewer who said he was a conservative Christian Republican but had found the movie "pretty factual".
Apparently, we're supposed to spread the rumor that the movie is based on liberal lies rather than common-knowledge facts most of us already know. Come on, people! This is why the Democrats are ahead in the race for the White House. Thinking Republicans can't afford a 'My President Right or Wrong' mentality, it fools no one and just makes us seem stupid. We know Bush did some questionable things the past 8 years and we know in our hearts that simply being a good Christian isn't enough to run this country or any of us could do it. Leaders must also be smart, informed and use good judgement. It is hard being a Republican right now, with so much anti-Bush and anti GOP sentiment everywhere. But pretending all the criticism is unjustified just proves people's points about us.

They don't call him Stone for nothing.

    by yellamo

I have to laugh at some of these reviews. Anyone who takes a Stone movie serious is an idiot. This is a typical Oliver Stone movie..short on facts and long on BS. This guy rewrites history in ALL his movies and callls it artistic license.

    Too Soon

The critic from Variety was exactly right. It is too soon to make a movie of W when the policies and wars that he has made will be with us for years and the impact of his presidency will be felt for decades to come. It will take some undoing to get us right again and the pain will last, especially for those families who have lost a loved one to war, forever. However, our country is so divided politically, this movie will only be seen by Democrates and Independents who have been unhappy these past 8 years. Republicans will stay away but will write bad reviews of this movie even though they have not seen it. I do not believe there are really any open-minded people when it comes to their political beliefs. To the reviewer who said he was waiting for the movie about Bill Clinton, there was one out. It was called Primary Colors. . I am a Democrat and although it was not flattering to Bill Clinton, I enjoyed it. "W is interesting, but like his legacy, unfinished.

Smart, Truthfull , and Real Fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    by pjb413

The reason we are getting so many oh no's is because, to many local yocals are showing up thinking there going to see a fiction based story flatering there republican good ole boy.
Getting smacked in the face with real facts, isnt always a learning experience for the closed minded redneck.
This film is a fun factual honest look at one of Americas biggest errors.
If people cant admit to there mistakes, how can they ever learn from history.
This movie is a little to forgiving, but still sticks to truth and honesty. The acting and direction is superb. Its a great time, and well worth it.

    very humanistic

I am a democrat and went into this movie wondering whether I would be more anti-Bush, less anti-Bush or remain the same after. I came out of it feeling a little better about the charasmatic George and his struggles which Stone portrayed. I am not naive enough to realize that this film was not politically motivated, but felt like W was just like me and others struggling for our fathers approval and dealing with a disease of alcoholism. Felt like the movie was written by Colin Powell though, and I love that guy so swayed my view in a positive manner. Very anti Cheney which I thought was great.

    George Bush Biography

No... it is not a Bush-bashing movie. No... it is not a Bush-wasn't-so-bad movie. It's a biography of young man overshadowed by the successes of his father and brother who overcame all odds to become the 43rd president of the United States. It highlights his missteps as well as maybe the lack of support he was given, particularly from Colin Powell. All the casting is well done. Especially Josh Brolin's performance who brings a fully dimensional representation of why the American public was enamoured by his charm and common way of speaking. It made you like the man behind the hurt his presidency eventually became. Although still president here in 2008, the movie only really goes up until the end of 2004. If you appreciate good biographies, you will enjoy it. If you're not sure, you will appreciate the person behind the media's version of Bush a little better.

    One-Man Show

Point blank, Josh Brolin deserves an academy award for this film and his performance is the propeller behind this flight. That being said there were many problems with this movie. The main problem was that this DID NOT really have the power of a "Stone" film. It could have had much more. Of course there are the sentimental pictorial references and unique cinematography usually present in a good Stone film, but they seemed packaged and more superficial in this film. Another fumble is that Stone didn't explore the depth of W's past in secret societies and/or (more importantly) his father's stronghold and history within these societies and their vast influence on this country. Senior Bush, by all accounts, is one of (THE) most knowledgeable men in the entire world on subjects of foreign relations, government intervention (manipulation)...all the way up to UFO history, etc. And why didn't Stone further reveal/expose the Bush family's relation with the Bin Laden's PRE 9'11? Stoney???

it sucked, we left in the middle of the movie.
we all know the man is a egotistical fool, I expected more like a Saturday night live satirical
full length movie to make me laugh so I don't have to cry about the last eight years.

    Decent movie

This movie wasn't bad. I wouldn't call it a must-see by any means, perhaps worth renting at some point. All of the actors were great, and the film successfully told the story of George W. Bush's life in an amusing light. If you're into politics you'll love it, but there's nothing too earth-shattering in the movie that requires you to go buy a ticket and see it.

We had to critique it--definitely fact filled and a good movie to open your mind to!

    by spinoza

For extra credit, our law school class had to go and see it and critique it. We found it not based on lies as so many people have claimed. Most of us are still dissecting the movie, but overall. it's definitely not some product of the 'liberal America.' Considering we just got done, we have yet to have a discussion about it. Those in my group all had the same overall opinion of the movie: Enlightening, full of information and done in a tasteful and respectful way. I would definitely go see if if you're open to reflecting on what the US has represented for the last 8 years under the presidency of George Bush. I just hope we don't repeat the same mistakes this November.

I want my 2 hours and 10 minutes back!

Think it's going to be funny? It's not. Think it may shed some light on the illegal activity of our current president? It doesn't. Think it might be entertaining at the very least? It isn't. It was one of the slowest building, anticlimactic movies I have ever seen. Approximately half way through this film, my wife and I were both thinking we should leave the theater because it was so bad. We stayed because we couldn't believe it was going to be so terrible...it just had to get better, right? Not a chance.
My advice to anyone who reads this review is to save your money and your time and don't see W.

    SHAME ON OLIVER!

    by Joomp

How dare Oliver Stone depict George W. Bush as a gullible, naive and simplistic President. Stone depicted Bush as a Born Again Christian who is lead by his beliefs. When in fact everyone knows Bush used Christianity as a front to fool the evangelicals in our contry.

Stone also depicts Bush Sr as a righteous, family loving man. Bush Sr. WAS HEAD OF THE CIA!!!!! Hello CIA take down governments, murder hundreds of thousands and worse. There are sooo many Bush Sr. conspiracy theories, especially the Bush Hinckley Connection. Where Bush's son was suppose to meet with Hinckley's brother before Regan's assasination attempt.

Bush Administration murdered MILLIONS! Persian Gulf War 1 and the Sequel, Operation Iraq Freedom were engineered and profited on by Bush Sr., Bush Jr., Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rove and the rest of the neocons.

I was expecting so much more from Mr. Stone. I mean the Bush AdminstrationsSSSSS(both) are the worst administrations in history.

    W

If you like politics and the political satires on SNL, you'll love this one. Excellent performances, interesting insights into Bush from Stone and definitely an entertaining, well-made production. If you're a Republican or otherwise don't want to be reminded of the Bush-inflicted Iraq misery of the last 5 years, stay away.

    W - Average

    by sole63

My wife and I were excited about seeing this movie. We ended up being somewhat disappointed. Josh Brolin did a very good job. Not much story to it. The movie itself was boring.
