    Original buzz:

    typical woody allen movie

    by miss gizzy

The scenery in this movie was AMAZING. I felt like I was in spain. The actors did a fine job, although I'm not quite sure why Penelope won an Oscar for this.

    "empty sex"

    How disappointing.
I want to say that it's my fault, that my expectations were too high or that I wasn't in the mood for a...somewhat romantic-comedyish book -on- tape with an overcooked plot line that (Inserts ******* scene here)? But realistically, the whole thing was just kind of tiresome. The only thing more annoying than the narrator's inflection (why was there a narrator??) was the fact that Penelope Cruz won an oscar... for playing Penelope Cruz.

    Amazing.

I'm not a fan of Woody Allen myself but I've gotta say he hit home with this one.
The musical score in the background consists mostly of Andres Segovia, the beautiful Spanish guitarist. The music compliments the film in a massive way. Allen even has a guitarist play one of Segovia's songs in a critical scene between Bardem and Hall where Hall falls in love with the guitar and eventually for the Don Juan, Bardem. During the film you'll be asking yourself..."Where's Penelope?"...don't worry, she'll arrive halfway through the film and when she does, you won't see the last of her. Her perfomance is excellent -- perfect role for her -- obviously, she won the best supporting actress award for her skills.

    Pleasant

That's my way of saying the movie was ehh... so-so. The story is nothing new, but the scenery is breathtaking; truly a vacation for the eyes. I left the movie feeling like I'd actually been to Spain :)

    Vicky, Cristina Barcelona

I took two friends of mine who I knew would love it and I was right. We had a great time. woody allen is among the greatest film makers of all time. The film was funny, sexy, smart and extreamly entertaining.
