I'm a big fan of the genre. I love being told a good story, and being scared all the while.
And I'm even a fan of the "found footage" sub-genre of horror, which was done so well by BLAIR WITCH and the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY series.
But this is a sh*t show...or, as my friend who accompanied me to the screening called it, a "dumpster fire-of-a-movie."
A series of vignettes with no likable characters, no discernible story, and a whole lot of unnecessary gore -- gore with NO PURPOSE but to gross you out.
TAKE NOTE: My friend and I walked out after only an hour. And I'd like that hour of my life back, please.

Where to begin - this movie was awful and scattered. Its pathetic attempt to be a movie in the same vain as the Blair Witch Project is wasted on the actors and script. Couldnt bear watching after 20 minutes but my husband insisted that 'it had to get better'. It didn't. Don't bother with this rotten tomato!

Just another lame "found" footage movie. Boring.

In what will become a pattern of this series, the frame narrative (titled "Tape 56", according to Wikipedia) is the worst of the bunch. There's nothing blatantly bad about it, but it's almost completely bereft of tension, largely due to the fact that it's split into five pieces, all of which are too short to leave much of an impact. But nobody watches anthologies for the frame stories, anyway. The actual segments are mostly fine, with one real winner ("Amateur Night", the first segment). Even the worst segment, "Tuesday the 17th", has its cheesy fun moments.
