Funny, Campy, Good Action

Way better than expected. Haven't read the books but didn't feel lost. Moved along at a good pace, enough action to keep the adventurous happy, enough romance without being sappy to keep the romantics happy. and enough humor and pop culture references for everyone. Will definitely see again!

One of The Best Book To Film Adaptations Yet!

I must start this review out by stating how true to the book this adaptation stayed, while certainly there were scene's that did not quite make the cut(though all of them were minor) it did a wonderful job of staying true to the story. Rose Hathaway(played by Zoey D.) is every bit the confident, smart ass, protective friend that we know her to be and each line is delivered with utter conviction and surety. Lissa(played by Lucy F.) does a remarkable job staying true to her character as well. There are virtual no complaints that I could make regarding this film other than that the CG could have been just a wee bit better. However, there is one note I must make. To those who are concerned that Adrian I. a character who shows up later in the book series is not present, that is because he does not appear until book two, thus he would not appear until the second movie. As for Eddie, he barely made a critical appearance in the first book so there was no need to bring him into the first film.

Loved it! Followed books almost to a 'T'. If you haven't seen it yet I really recommend!! I just went to see this today( 2-7-14 ) and I honestly have to say that I was totally pleased with the film making. I read all the books, several times, and the actors fit the characters. Very few things were changed from book to screen which was GREAT! GO SEE THIS MOVIE!! A++++

Unimpressed

The movie was alright but the dialog was lacking in quality and the characters just seemed fake and they didn't fit who they were supposed to be/what they've been through. It wasn't worth the money I paid to see it.

Don't let the cheesy trailers and name fool you!

This movie was a really fun time. I read the books, and with the teeny bopper trailers, expected this film to be highly disappointing. But man, I really enjoyed it. There definitely is a tween vibe conveyed and some stupid lines that made me roll my eyes, but that was my only issue with the film. It actually surprises me that Rotten Tomatoes critics are giving it such bad reviews because casual viewers are loving it, but I'm assuming that's because they aren't the target market. This isn't Twilight, this isn't Harry Potter, this is Vampire Academy. And just because it has vampires in it, doesn't mean it's going to be bad! Give it a chance. (The rest of the series is also miles better than the first and would make better movies).
