Critic Reviews are Notoriously Poor of Black Movies

Tyler Perry's Temptation may not be the best film ever made, but neither are any of those highly rated Woody Allen movies that I am always trying to figure out. Here's the reality: Over 75% of all reviews by critics (95% of whom are white) at major media outlets of black-produced movies or movies about black historical figures or main characters are NEGATIVE (unless they are produced by currently in-favor producers, apparently, not the producer of Star Wars). One would doubt that Tyler Perry, with his edgy and stereotypical Madea connotation, would have been able to break this obviously biased streak. That said, his consistent insertion of moral tones into his movies make them unique and valuable, as well as his consistent employment of typically overlooked and spurned, but very good, black actors--who often can't play leading ladies or men in American films because of racism. Go see his movies. You're not wasting your money and will enjoy your time. Ba humbug to you too, critics!

Don't Hate, Appreciate

I don't understand all of the negative criticism. There are MUCH worse films than Temptation. Movies are supposed to entertain and Tyler succeeded. I thought he told a seductive story in a tasteful manner. I left the theater thinking about the choices that I made in my own life. The movie also reminded audience members to think carefully about who they allow into their lives. Thus, Perry did more than entertain, which gives his movie more value. I do think Perry should hone his skills in character development and lighting. I could not see Brice for a large portion of the movie :-/ Nonetheless, the hyper-criticism needs to stop. If caricatures can exist in Oscar winning films like Django, then why dismiss Tyler Perry's efforts. I see an Oscar nomination in the future :-) And I'm not being sarcastic. Perry is capable of producing quality work, he just needs to invest in the craft more. How many other people are doing what he's doing? He deserves much more respect.

This was a very good movie. A good dose of reality for individuals that are in relationships and are not happy with there partner. Some of the issues discussed in this movie really touched home. I can honestly say this movie got me thinking about life and relationships. I had a tear in my eyes after the movie. Kim K did a good job. It wasn't the best but it was good and Vanessa Williams i was waiting for somebody to mention her fake accent. That was hilarious.

I say almost, if it wasn't for the comfortable seats and the great nap I got, it would be the worst movie I've seen. The script/dialogue was lame at best and the acting was worse, especially big butt Kim, or whichever K sister it was. The lead acress was hot though. Besides a few white females in the audience, I was the only white dude, which is fine, my best friend is black, but it was weird at the stuff the audience laughed at, I didn't see one reason to crack a smile through the whole movie except for when the person behind me woke me up by shaking my chair. Sorry if my snoring bothered anyone, but that had to be more funny than anything in the movie the audience laughed at.
