A Movie Fan Gives a Eulogy to 'Twilight,' and Is It the Best of the Saga?

By: Stacie Hougland on November 16, 2012 at 6:08PM Comments (7)

This week sees the end of one of moviedom's most popular franchises ever: The Twilight Saga. In case you didn't know, Breaking Dawn Part 2 is now in theaters, and our sister site Movies.com has it more than covered. Check out A Movie Fan's Eulogy to 'Twilight' and find out when you can watch it with your kids; debate who's the tougher heroine, Bella or Katniss; and lots more.

The site's notoriously finicky critic Dave White agrees with other resounding statements around da interwebs...BD Part 2 is indeed the best of the entire saga. Read his review, and let him know if you agree.

Of course, BD Part 2 wasn't the only movie to open this week--there was also Daniel Day-Lewis's Oscar-baiting performance in Lincoln. Here, 10 other historical figures who deserve their own biopic.

Were you wondering the same things we did about Skyfall? If you've seen it, weigh in. If you haven't, beware of some spoilers in 8 Unanswered Questions We Had About 'Skyfall.'

And finally, as we learned that Quentin Tarantino may retire early, debate the question: Is it a good idea for great filmmakers to quit while they're ahead?

That's just the tip of the iceberg, so make sure you hit up Movies.com for more geeking out on all things movies.

The finale TWILIGHT by far is the best: it has a solid-emotional impact on the senses. The whole Cast shined and delivered. Great movie and will see again! As far as Epic-Historical movie's I hope one will be done on Freedom fighter/Abolitionist HARRIET TUBMAN she is an Historical American treasure and Actress Kimberly Elise would do much justice to bringing her Life story onto the big screen. The movie LINCOLN was spectacular and Actor Daniel Day-Lewis did a awesome Epic portrayal of our much beloved 16th Iconic-Historical/American President Abraham Lincoln. Powerful, the whole Cast mesmerizing. And will see it again!!

I would agree that Breaking Dawn Part. 2 was the best in the series. I have not read the books but I really did follow the movies. Great closure to the movie especially the ending credits, make sure to stay for the credits. The theater I went to had a great crowd and it was a great movie experience to end the chapter of Twilight saga. Now I can't wait for The Lord of the Rings marathon day. I am really excited to see The Hobbit.

I enjoyed this final chapter of the movies-it totally tied everything together and It was a good ending-stuck by it for 5 years and glad I did-I'm no teenager but you don't need to be to enjoy this series-as far as the actors they have matured and all have become good actors in their own fields-perhaps now they can get on with their own lives-too bad we can't go to a movie and not be jusdgemental-they are just people that happen to be in the limelight-let them be-it's easy to to be critical of others-and not judge yourself-ok-enough lecture bye rosie

I LOVED WATCHING BREAKING DAWN PART 2! IF YOU READ ALL OF THE BOOKS AND SAW ALL OF THE MOVIES, LIKE MOST TWILIGHT FANS, YOU'D UNDERSTAND! I HAVE SEEN ALL OF THE MOVIES, AND READ THE BOOKS. THIS ONE WAS THE BEST OF ALL OF THEM!

Re Twilight. Is that it? That's all? All the hoopla and buzz. A little family gathering; then a big street fight. And Kristin gets a new "super power". They needed something. I am not a particularly a big fan of Kristen, however, I'll give her credit for the first time she started acting like a young adult; instead of a pouty teenager. Tom S.
