Twelve review

The ever-handsome Chace Crawford is able to reveal an inner and shattered part of himself. A Ying-Yang of teenage debauchery and the darker side of life through the eyes of the supposedly "innocent" generation of society.

"TWELVE" is fresh and engaging, with an oustanding ensemble cast of tomorrow's next generation of big stars and Oscar winners. Every performance is outstanding... from the complex colors of Chace Crawford as the conflicted drug-dealer, to the no-nonsense business practices of Curtis 50-Cent Jackson as the supplier. I think it's impossible to ignore the poignant performance of Emily Meade as the prep-school addict who both loves and hates her obsession with a powerful new drug. Rory Culkin shines as the younger brother of a testosterone-enraged, violence-proned brother (skillfully presented by the otherwise drop-dead-handsome Billy Magnussen, who has projected his rage onto his face and the very presence of his being). Truly superb performances, definitely the strongest of the summer. There's also hot music, lots of beautiful faces, plenty of genuinely funny moments, and a couple of "teary-eyed" touching scenes (involving White Mike as he struggles to deal with his mother's death).
