    unexpected drama

It was a little 'deeper' then I thought. The previews portrayed it as a comedy with some drama, but it was more of a drama with some funny parts. The Acting was great, just wasn't what I expected.

    Throwin' Heat

    by

This is a wonderful, heart-warming, heart-wrenching, choke back your tears family story. Against traditional practice, I'll name what was lacking: a more well-defined back-story as to why Eastwood and Adams's characters were estranged. It was there but, as much as it pains me to say it, I feel Clint dropped the directorial ball on that. As for everything else, it was fantastic. Solid acting from who you expect (Eastwood, Adams and John Goodman), great support roles from Robert Patrick and Matthew Lillard (yes, THAT Matthew Lillard) and, finally, a good movie and performance for my guy JT. Timberlake was believable and funny and I'm excited that he may be able to parlay this to more weighty roles. Outside of the acting, the story and atmosphere couldn't have been more enjoyable. I'm bias as an avid baseball fan but I simply loved watching this movie. Go and see it.

    Predictable plot, implausible ending

    by Clarkb

Wanted to like this movie, good actors, just a poor plot line. Very, very predictable and ending so implausible it was almost laughable.

    Trouble With The Curve

Excellent acting by Eastwood. Nice, feel good story with plenty of laughs and a pat but satisfying ending. An enjoyable movie worth the admission price.

    Feel good movie!

    by

Eastwood at his best as a grumpy ole man. A feel good movie, for sure. Great one liners, and the cast was good. Enjoyed it a lot! I like baseball, so that made it even more interesting, too!

    Contrived

It lacked in dialogue and was a contrived 2 act play

    Another Solid Inning for Eastwood

    by ChrisJG

Mr. Eastwood gets a lot out of his actors, and works at a brisk pace. While he isn't credited with directing this one, it has his fingerprints all over it. Some scenes feel a bit rushed, but the magic is there. Terrific performances from Justin Timberlake and Amy Adams shine. Few others are given much to do, and their characters seem a little two-dimensional, but they are of such high quality, especially John Goodman, that the ensemble works perfectly, like a well-oiled machine. He hits all the notes (and doesn't even play piano in this one), and while others in his canon of films may be better, this is definitely worth your time. 7/10

My husband and I saw this movie. It was very good. The acting was superb and the story line was enlightening. This was a comedy with a little bit of drama. Definitely a must go!

    Good Movie

    by CJs Mom

Hubby and I saw it for "date night". We both loved it. First movie I've seen Clint Eastwood in that wasn't a western and he's much better than expected! Loved all the "grunting" he does like a typical old man!
