    Felicity Huffman Saves TRANSAMERICA

    by lugubriousthespian

First-time writer / director Duncan Tucker's TRANSAMERICA is rife with moviedome cliches about a pre-operative transexual Bree ( wonderfully fleshed out by Desperate Hosewives star Felicity Huffman ) who must face up to some past dalliances when he/she was and man which fathered a boy now 17 and in trouble with staying on the straight and narrow. What starts intriguingly as poingnantly funny character study digresses into a typical road movie with some incredibly amateurish acting by someof the supporting actors. It is truly only Huffman who is able to rise above the banal and bring life to a script that is at times very hard to swallow/

    Terrific!

    by curlysunset

This is a terrific movie about gender, how it is defined and the age old debate about transgenderism. It pinpoints discrimination & shows how you are who you are. No one can change that no matter how hard they try. It is a moving work by the producers, directors. I really appreciated Felicity Huffman's portrayl of Bree.
