"Arctic" left me cold...

I just got back from the IMAX Theater, and unfortunately, "Arctic" fell far short of my expectations. I was hoping for something akin to "March of the Penguins" in 3D, with the same narrator throughout. Please know that Meryl Streep narrates less than 50% of this film, with random speakers narrating the balance. The film was somewhere around 45 mins. long. While very briefly chronicling the woes of a polar bear family,"Arctic" seemed to only show a week in the life of these creatures, as opposed to following them on an epic journey. There are clips of other Arctic animals as well, such as caribou, walruses, seals, etc. The musical score was inappropriate for the beautiful and breathtaking scenery, and seriously detracted from the film. Quiet contemplative music, classical in nature, (or even silence!) would have made a far greater contribution to the success of "Arctic". BBC's Blue Planet Frozen Seas DVD will provide you with a better learning experience for around the same $.

What a Total Waste of $40

I love the Arctic and iMax films so we drove 65 miles one way to a natural history museum to take our kids to see this. Within 10 minutes my 5 year old was crying because all the polar bears were dying due to climate change. There was a constant drumbeat of "Bad Human for destroying the Arctic" throughout the movie. Never mind that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department say that the polar bear population has increased 500% in the last 50 years (5,000 to 25,000). This film continues to hype the hoax of man-made climate change killing all the bears. I am VERY disappointed that a beautifully made movie with stunning imagery could not go 5 minutes without returning to the, "We are killing our planet" lecture instead of teaching you about Polar Bears and the other inhabitants of this fascinating part of our world. I expected a bit of the "green speak" at the beginning or the end, but this is the only theme of the film. So if you do not want the lecture, save your money.

I loved this movie/documentary. It is a must see in 3D Imax. I love the location on Broadway and 68th street, the screen is incredible, much bigger than the others I have seen. The movie is very interesting and short (45m).
