Great action, with a good link to the original

    by

While the essence of the original Total Recall was present, several story lines in this version were largely updated and modernized. If you want an action flick, this is a very good one to see. If you want a carbon copy of the original, this is not the movie to see. Despite this, I really liked it. The characters are believable. The technology is sci-fi enough. I love action flicks and this one delivered very well on that note. I definitely recommend it!

    Exciting Remake!

    by

Awesome, is a start! As I sat and watch comparing certain scenes in the movie thinking I like this one too! The twists of ReKall memory implant vs his real identity plus Kate's character as his wife was a sweet mix, especially a female role of non blonde hair types. Good choice and let's not forget J.Biel role, she ROCKED! I love the concept as for how the director planned it! Good movie, solid all around!!!

    ----------
    CONS -
    No Mars,
No Mutants (except fo 3 boobed chick),
Too Heavy (none of the fun of the original),
    Story fell flat,
Very little character build-up (I just didn't care about anyone)

Acting and story was not interesting at all!

    by

Save your money... If you loved the original you will hate this one. I loved the special effects, the fighting scenes, and visuals but I almost walked out of the movie about half way through it. I made myself sit there longer and it got better right at the end. This movie had great potential but Farrell didn't play Douglas Quaid (Hausser) very well. He is a good actor but it never showed in the movie. Scrapping Mars was also a mistake. Synthetic soldiers I didn't care for either. This is one of those movies you either liked it or hated it. Disappointed it didn't turn out better. This is the 2nd action movie this Summer that turned out to be a bomb. Men in Black 3 and this one. Sorry, Arnold still wins for this movie!

    A decent movie

    by

First, I should say that I am a big fan of the original Total Recall. If you compare this movie to the original then you're going to hate it. There are some nods to the original in this, but the plot is completely different. They use some of the same concepts (character names, situations, gadgets) but this is far from the original. If this was a stand alone movie not based on the original I would have enjoyed it more. It was foolish for a studio to take on this project and have it rated PG-13. I think that is the most common complaint about this movie (although we did get a shot of a three breasted woman).

This was very similar to the Bourne identity, but it was very well done along with great graphics and acting a lot better than Arnold's total recall in my opinion

    awesome for a first watcher

    by

I did not see total recall 1 so I thought this one was soooo awesome but if u have seen the first one made then it's slow and pointless to watch but otherwise it was amazing.

They used ideas from the original to help promote it to this generation. Robbery!

    Better than the original

More realistic than the first one. Defiantly worth seeing.

    Better than expected!

The usual giant plot holes, but all in all, a very good "based on" telling of the original Philip K. **** story, "We Can Remember It For You Wholdesale." I thought the acting was at the very least (Kate Beckinsale) workmanlike, and at the best, very good, if not the best that these actors can do, but a lot of that was the type of movie and the characters as written. I thoroughly enjoyed the special effects and felt that they were extremely well done, adding to rather than distracting from the overall entertainment experience, and again with the partial exception of Kate Beckinsale, everyone in the cast handled what had to be blue (or green) screen work seamlessly. The action is wonderful, athletic, acrobatic, and really interesting set design. My 18 year old son and I really, really enjoyed the movie.

    misses the mark

Nowhere near the over the top sci-fi of the original. This one lacks Arnold and the whole martian setting.
Colin ferrel is kinda boring as quaid. Some aspect of the original story are kept, but I miss the Arnold version after watching it.
